@holger@theforkiverse.com @pj@theforkiverse.com it’s mostly searching, or you can click hash tags too of course, and then following. I’d warn you to not follow too many accounts at once though, it’s easy to over follow and get overwhelmed. You can also set notifications for posts on accounts you always want to see stuff from but again, use it cautiously. That notification feature is usually a little bell icon on the person’s profile (kinda like YT, “ don’t forget to hit that little bell icon” 😂)

@holger@theforkiverse.com @pj@theforkiverse.com I’d recommend finding some hashtags for things you’re interested in and following those. For instance, I follow hashtags for sports I like, as well as my city and neighborhood. From there, it’s easier to expand out to following individual accounts you see posting regularly. And it’s likely worth checking out @FediTips@social.growyourown.services

@pj@theforkiverse.com @holger@theforkiverse.com Also recommend checking out the accounts in https://about.fedigroups.social/directory Those are accounts that will boost any post they are tagged in so they work similarly to hashtags except they will push posts to your instance. When you follow a hashtag, the post will only show up in your feed if it makes it to your instance (so if it was posted or boosted by someone who has a follower on your instance), when you follow a fedigroup it will guarantee that posts make it to your instance.

@holger@theforkiverse.com @pj@theforkiverse.com you follow like crazy people/hashtags (then those people repost stuff, which you follow like crazy) Then after a week, you start culling the accounts you followed when you find they’re not a good fit.
