@nonhappy@equestria.social So basically, larger, more predatory fish evolved until humans invented fishing, and then evolution just went "nope!" and hit the reverse in terms of size?

@Quinch@equestria.social Sort of. But both pressures I mentioned can happen independently of human activities. We actually discovered the second effect because of a specific couple of studies where we were inexplicably finding that tadpoles eaten in a pond were much smaller than species average despite the fish being perfectly willing to eat any size - wich was odd because we assumed the size decreases were because said fish were preferring larger tadpoles. In general tho, yes. Evolution under resource rich and predators poor conditions trends towards creating the largest body it can.
