I just heard someone say that they prefer to talk about spoon theory in terms of spell slots. Some are cantrips (free actions), can do freely, as much and as often as you want without taking any energy. Others are 1st level slot, 2nd level slot, 8th level slot.. and omg, it fits so much better!!

@akiiwata@plush.city @PsyChuan@plush.city https://plush.city/@akiiwata/116033739334288728 that's what I use when I'm talking to someone who understands :bugcat_nod: to add to the explanation :zerotwo_learn: ・ some spells are different levels for different people ・lower spells can be cast using higher slots but not the reverse ・getting interrupted in the middle of a cast will still usually eat the spell slot ・you only have so many of each level, and higher level slots are especially precious ・if you're really desperate, you can cast without a proper spell slot, but it includes penalties disproportionate to what it would cost otherwise ・some classes just don't get certain spells
