More like, I see Christians defending actual mistakes of the church, or church doctrine.
For example, I can't accept anyone as intellectually honest if they tell me, indulgences are real, but we just don't know the correct interpretation.
But, if we are talking about Jesus as a person? The only people who do not know Jesus, do not want to know him. There are no barriers to entry.
And, being an expression of what a person wants, if they say he isn't real, or there is no evidence, they are being dishonest. Though they may not have enough introspection to be conscious of it.
