And it's fucking enraging because:
a) it's also part of a culture where we're in danger of people losing their jobs because we keep making financial decisions based on what is easiest to do operationally (not for staff welfare, btw, literally for "which makes me think less").
b) If you always say yes but do nothing, nobody fucking trusts you.
c) You're paid more money, part of that is because you sometimes have to be the bad guy. Do it. Earn your fucking keep.

Finally, I'm not a senior manager to any of these fucking people. I'm a manager, but some of them are senior to me, but since I'm the only person willing to tell people things they don't want to hear, they just lumber me with the task of saying no to things that are clearly fucking impossible instead of having the guts to say it themselves (or, having the guts to tell me they want to do it anyway).
