@moredread@universeodon.com @PaulBusch@cosocial.ca Tha ks for sharing that information - it means that you have what many would consider a high net income, and that's just fine. Where many journalists get confused is how that ~500 dollar clawback gets distributed to the rest of the seniors making below 81,000. Think of it this way - to "save" 1 billion dollars per month, there would have to be 1.25 Million seniors making more than 150,000 net per year. Seniors make up about 20% of the population, or about 8 million.

@moredread@universeodon.com @PaulBusch@cosocial.ca So the 800 dollar clawback from 1.25 million seniors would spread to about 6 or 7 other seniors - about 100 bucks a month each. All that math depends on there being 1.25 million seniors with net incomes over 150,000 ... So I don't buy it, and neither does StatsCan.

@rhempel@cosocial.ca @PaulBusch@cosocial.ca yes a high net income. The fallacy is that any savings would go lower income groups. I worked all my life for the federal government and believe me saving is not a word they understand. That may change under Carney, maybe, 🤔
