Just over a week past hubby’s 5th out of 6 chemo treatments. This crazy, horrible, shocking journey started at the beginning of January with a stage 4 prostate cancer diagnosis. He’s responded well to the triple therapy treatments (still feels awful from them, especially for the first 7-10 days after, but so much better than he was before treatment started) and the oncologists are encouraged. There is also the knowledge that no one knows if (or more likely when) the cancer will fight its way back and different treatments may have to be tried. We have to monitor body temperature, blood pressure, and side effects of the treatment. A chart to make sure medications are taken on schedule and not missed. Calendar to track it all. I really try to be hopeful. At the same time, I am stressed and exhausted. Sometimes my brain feels foggy and I lose my train of thought. It’s been described as grieving, even though he is still here and could be for a long time. Grieving for the way things were, for the loss of that life from before, but thankful there is life ahead. I guess it helps to put the thoughts into words, writing it down. 😢 that’s just where I’m at right now.
