@Aurora_Bee@deadinsi.de Hm. I don't know that it's that simple in this case. The rail network performance this year actually seemed to be better than in previous snowy years (the first day of snow there were practically no outages at all!), and I know they're also just removing entire track switches that are no longer needed (and that's responsible for at least part of the heating system removals). Like, to be clear, we're 100% going to get in increasing amounts of trouble on our rail network after two decades of increasingly cutting down public spending on transit. But I'm not so sure that this specific case is an instance of that.

    @joepie91@fedi.slightly.tech valid point ^^ would also point to this here https://deadinsi.de/@Aurora_Bee/115848692618693376 take it with a grain of salt, but it also sounds like a lot has gone wrong in managing what NS/Prorail does have; which well... if true, would be a very on brand and unsurprising decision in general, no matter which European railway company we'd be talking about :s
