AFAIK, Zotero still needs a database if items to cite from? Or is that no longer required? In PaperPile, I just enter a few keywords and click 'cite'. Hard to beat. And essentially any author from any place in the world can contribute on GDoc, including references. All the documents get stored for quick access and it understands document templates from various sources. Standard formatting (figures, tables, legends, equations) also works.

@brembs@mastodon.social @neuralreckoning@neuromatch.social @thetransmitter@mastodon.social Well. I guess also PaperPile needs some kind of database to find the references, no? What is it based on ? I hope not Google Scholar, which might be compromised, given how rapidly US Enterprise comprise eith the Trump legislation.
