Silly but actually serious question: if you needed to mic a sleeping cat, how would you do it? Could you do it on a sub-$200 budget? Sub-$100? Sub-$50?
I know very little about sound design but am eager to learn.

@maradydd@mastodon.social For hw long / how unobtrusively? Lavalier clipped to a collar, or a mic stand if you want proximity. A photo tripod makes an acceptable stand in a pinch. Mobile devices have surprisingly good mics. Sound experience: light, though some experience with both items & Audacity. Never actually miced a cat, self excepted.
