Exactly. Also happens on other sites like qwant. Not on google for some reason.
So I'm not alone. I think you have the exact same issue then.
I never did a capture, but the steps to reproduce are: search for something on qwant or ddg, or just type something on qwant.com search and then try backspace. Bacspace doesn't work on the search form on the page.

I've had this happen with DDG on desktop Firefox on Bazzite too but very infrequently

This is really strange, but DDG now works propely for me with Heliboard. Modifying a search query no longer causes input to go crazy. Are you able to confirm?
