A new FLOSS antenna simulation program is being planned at https://github.com/OpenResearchInstitute/Arcanum . It will calculate more precisely than the ubiquitous nec2 by treating segments as metal cylinders rather than thin wires. No working code yet, but people apparently work on test data (known antennas), design of the program in 4 passes, and interfaces between those passes. Once completed, you apparently can use Arcanum as a drop-in replacement of nec2. Cool stuff! Thanks to @abraxas3d@mastodon.radio for pointing it out! 🧵
