It is May 3. May 3rd. And we hit over 31 Degrees C on our deck this afternoon. I've spent the day getting the greenhouse ready for growing (ie, planting up the plants I am going to keep) - and then I spent time putting down the watering* *Yes, I water my garden. For a few reasons. 1) I grow my own food, and do very carefully controlled restricted watering at night, primarily drip irrigation, around seasonal veg and on our borers. 2) The water helps give us at least some moisture barrier between the forest and the house. Our place wouldn't be allowed today under current planning, but it's got effectively a legacy plot planning permission, because it was first settled about 100 years ago. 3) I also have a well, and I am very careful about consumption in the house. This week, we're adding a water monitor to it so I know exactly what my consumption looks like.

@aminorjourney@insearchofportlandia.com Thanks for tooting, together with @pacific06@mastodon.social and a few close friends, we also spent the weekend preparing our project garden. We did a few leveling, stone sorting and ploughing. https://mas.to/@ethan256/116515355699390618 We want to establish an edible demonstration food forest for the youths in our community On the other hand, I am very curious about what crops you grow, especially in dry seasons and droughts (little or no rain) #growYourOwn
