@void@mastodon.sdf.org @zanchey@aus.social The spiritual successor to the original Outlook is not Outlook, it's Teams: for a long time, Outlook was a propietary groupware application with some incredibly shaky internet mail capabilities bolted on. (Remember "winmail.dat"? *shudder*) The new Outlook, meanwhile, is the spiritual successor to HotMail (which MS paid big bucks for back in the 90s .com boom). It's a reasonably decent webmail client, and a shim to make it act as a slightly shaky desktop app. All of the above have calendars bolted on. None of them are very good.

@imsop@tech.lgbt @zanchey@aus.social Wait, is outlook(the current non 365 one) successor of hotmail, not old outlook (which was a mail service and a mail management website)? I don't remember hotmail having imap or anything i was 10 when hotmail was a thing iirc, the latest 365 outlook doesn't either but the middle outlook allows imap. I probably made 20 mistakes in 2 posts i stop posting about outlook, i don't know enough i will read and learn (setting up outlook is part of my job).
