@codinghorror@infosec.exchange @danielpunkass@mastodon.social feels kind of intentionally obtuse. Are LLMs fundementally statistical models? Mostly yeah. But it's like arguing "nuclear weapons and subsequent arms races are here to stay" is the same as "atomic physics are here to stay" (obviously hyperbolic and not equivalent in impact). One is derived from the other but isn't an inevitability.
