@mhd@tilde.zone so i never did play around with BDF fonts in the 1990s when i was using X11. I guess because the setup i used most, an X server logged onto a large shared Unix server, did not allow me to fiddle the served fonts. Except reading around now, it seems that i can (or could have) run my own `xfs` and edit BDFs in a subdirectory of $HOME. I guess i wasn't that interested at the time. Also, in my first job, where there were plenty of different Unix workstations it would have been possible to "borrow" fonts from another font server; but again, never did that either.
