@EntangledPear@mastodon.social strawberries in my experience are very tough plants. We still have a few left over that are descendants (via offshoots) from the plants we bought when we moved into here almost 20 years ago. These will last you a long time.
Be prepared for an eternal battle against slugs though, if you have them in your garden. They are attracted to the fruit like crazy and the only way I've found to keep them at bay is by planting the strawberries into hanging pots.

@fedops@fosstodon.org My very limited experience is also that they are tough and "durable". Slugs might be a problem, although I haven't seen any this year yet 🤔 I think the winter we had was bad for them (and good for us 😉). Otherwise I'm in the habit of slug hunting every night after they appear, and I think I gradually managed to decrease their population. Still, it's a neverending fight.
