@martinvermeer@fediscience.org Trust me when I say this: there are a lot of folks who do not know better (namely those who have never lived in such a climate or those who are not meteorologically inclined) and assume the clear skies indicate that it would have a semblance of warmth. All I can say from having lived there: seeing a photo of weather conditions like this and that the photo was taken in January gives me a deep feeling of dread — even at 7200 km distance.
