@srgower@ottawa.place I agree with your take. I mostly stream and listen to audio books when my children allow me in the car. If I do listen to radio, it's usually CBC Radio 2, or 1 if I just want to hear something in the background. Pre-Covid I used to listen to TSN1200 religiously, the hosts felt like old pals of mine joking around, and being self-employed it helped in lonely office hours. But Bell being Bell keeps chopping and firing people and trying to replace local content with syndicated slop. I wrote my major research paper for law school about the history of CANCON, MAPL, and radio; and it's been a hundred years of broadcasters being forced by law makers to generate their own local content rather than buy premade shit from the states. We're long overdue for the government to step in again.

    @antonio106@ottawa.place That's the other thing I left out - corporate ownership leads to job cuts and that's something else I've seen in the last 20 years.
