Which is something I already do on my friendica instance. A small Instance as @stux says he is running is not going to have a lot of feature requests, or even maintenance. It is just shared between a few friends. @bigiain wrote: For some people and some use cases, being able to tell your friends "It's just a private Mastodon. Use whatever Mastodon web or mobile app you prefer, and just create an account on superseekritmastodon.com." is well worth any code bloat or unnecessary server resources or whatever other opposition you have with the standard Mastodon codebase. Hell - for the OPs use case, three whole users, even the entire mess of the OSS Mastodon behemoth would likely run perfectly fine on almost any cheap/unused/old Linux capable hardware, even a RasPi with a small USB hard drive. As all of my suggested possible alternatives can be accessed via a standard web browser of any flavor from any platform not sure where you are going here? His three friends could even be used from a PWA on any device they own. I am seeing a valid point at all to your comment? No matter how you look at it there is no real reason to have all that overhead if you are not federating. It serves no purpose. None of your points are valid at all to me, though I am sure they make a lot of sense to you or you would not have brought them up. So I will agree to disagree and move on. Thanks for the feedback, take care and have a great day.
