@jeroen94704@fosstodon.org I dug in last night and got about halfway through, so far! Rendered the second half as "Quanda menya na oquenya". :D It's a little singsong, and I need to figure out how to properly source parts of it, but it breaks down as [the whole of] [that which is for us to do (e.g., our task)] [is] [together-speech]. I like that it includes the base meaning of "Quenya" (the fancy old formal Elvish speech, described in a book I have as "elf-Latin"), which literally translates to "speech"!

@jeroen94704@fosstodon.org ...Aaaaaannnndd I just found a whole new motherlode of primary material to cross-reference 😱✨ Elvish-language poems, in Tengwar script, written by the man himself: https://mindstalk.net/bkxyzzy/tolkien/roadGoesEverOn.pdf Some is Sindarin I think, and nobody asked but I'm sticking to Quenya for this translation Can already see myself putting half of today into this, so I'd better eat something & do some Tasks before I hit those slippery slopes... Once again, I really appreciate the prompt :D

@jeroen94704@fosstodon.org Aighty, I did some iterations of this today! I went full nerd on the script, referencing a primary Quenya source for each syllable. :D Again, it's only the second phrase, but I might take a while to finish the whole thing, so wanted to send a few practice shots~ Diamine Alexandrite ink on Aquabee faux vellum paper
