I remember the nice thing with the drive was that computing on it was much faster as the C64 CPU was busy most of the time with printing the screen while the disk CPU would not be interrupted and could just compute.

@Lapizistik@social.tchncs.de True, 6502 CPU in 1541(-II) didn't need to share memory bus with VIC-II chip. Also - it was slightly higher clocked.
