@uriel@x.keinpfusch.net I am not really suprised, no. Spotify is just as well just a greedy big tech. On YT no one in the comments detects that it is AI. The band sings a Christian gospel, and the AI-generated texts are gobbled up. Not surprising too. Most annoying personally I find it that I get recommendations for fake AI metal bands.

@smallcircles@social.coop Well, I play drums, but I don’t have a band, so I started experimenting with AI to make music. I play the drums myself — everything else is AI-generated, but the lyrics. The result is epic metal in Latin, which is probably not the kind of thing you easily find on the market today. https://m.keinpfusch.net/share/L5rKU39jta Honestly, I was surprised by how good the result turned out. In some ways, it feels more inspired than a lot of generic heavy metal from past decades. That’s why I sometimes find the strong rejection of AI music a little theatrical. Modern music production has already relied for years on heavy editing, autotune, quantization, synthetic sounds, and industrial production pipelines. We accepted all of that as part of the evolution of music, so I’m not sure AI is such a dramatic break from the past. Of course AI won’t replace human creativity, emotion, or musicianship. This was replaced by pop music already. But as a creative tool, especially for independent people who don’t have a full band or a studio behind them, I think it can open some genuinely interesting possibilities.
