@wlukewindsor@c.im @ben_hr@old.mermaid.town after reading the article (before viewing the list) I was going to ask if Silent Running counted. It made quite an impression on me too (I still have the DVD) as a kid. From memory I first saw it as part of the BBC2 Sci-fi film festival around 1980. The Joan Baez soundtrack is fantastic. I'd also suggest that The Day the Earth Caught Fire is worth consideration? Humanity doing it's best to destroy itself, and the hope it can fix the future. Also maybe Avatar?
