That would be potentially 19 chicks from 6 nests (1 failed) in this one field. I don't know enough about wader breeding numbers to say if this is a great result.
I did a wader survey of a farm a few miles down Teesdale last week and there were 28 Lapwing in 26 fields and only 3 chicks visible. It may be they hatched earlier but I expected a lot more.
I will have a look into adjacent fields if I can, without disturbance, to see if any more are there.
