@anubis2814 I'm sorry, but some of the things you say are factually incorrect (morbidity vs. flu, self innoculation, ... ). And some of the other replies have already called it out. Noone asks anyone to mask all the time. But masking does work. And it does work, as you say, for any airborne disease. And it's not an all or nothing choice, which I think you also mention. I masked for the last 4 years, and, I've been thoroughly enjoying never getting sick. This rocks, particularly when everyone wonders why they're sick all the time. You're welcome to make your own choices, but please don't misrepresent facts to make yourself feel better. @leechindustries@zeroes.ca

  • @shtrom@piaille.fr @leechindustries@zeroes.ca It sure looked like it was calling for people to mask all the time. Perhaps I've misread. Just to let you know my credentials, I am a microbiologist and I have extensively read the literature to keep people around me safe. Newer data backs up everything I said about morbidity vs flu, and self-innoculation. Any time you are infected by covid or flu it creates a temporary immunity level, hence why there are year around cycles of ebb and flow. In the 3 really bad years of the last 2 decades 52k died from flu and covid is much lower than that now and back then the very concept of masking at all during flu season was offensive to most, hence historical trends and cycles. Nothing I said is incorrect though it is possible I was saying in a way that was less than clear which this article appears to do or I wouldn't have interpreted that it means everyone should mask all the time.
