@kaffiene@mastodon.nz @jenniferplusplus@tech.lgbt sure, but bartering (nor any more advanced system of exchange) is not what’s being advocated for here. This is just small batch capitalism, predicated on the same mechanisms of value extraction.

    @Parasite@kolektiva.social @jenniferplusplus@tech.lgbt I suppose this comes down to how you define capitalism, I guess. To me, capitalism is defined by empowering capital to exploit labour and political processes (rent seeking behaviour, regulatory capture etc) whereas artisans selling directly is workers selling their own labour. That seems a million miles from capitalism, to me. YMMV
