Flooding sounds much more easy that finding every nodes and most importantly the entities behind them.

Radio direction finding and Time of arrival methods have been known for decades and the modern AI tech made them even more powerful. SIGINT is militarized and governments have cool toys. Read https://cdn.rohde-schwarz.com/am/us/campaigns_2/a_d/Intro-to-direction-finding-methodologies.pdf to get a glimpse. The cheap chinese mesh nodes leak radio signal even when not transmitting. The internal direct conversion oscilators are usually not shielded at all either and so even receiving devices can be found.
