@Gh0stlyM0use@mastodon.social honestly, don't blame the concept of the NBN, blame Malcolm Turnbull.
I spent a good few years writing on comms tech and the like before the 2013 election, and it was clear, even then, that the FTTC/FTTdp arrangement was going to be a failure.
Even now, we're about 5-10 years behind the Lib's own plan, purely because of the disruption in 2013.
We should be rocking full NG-PON/XG-PON by now

@sortius@infosec.exchange i 💯 blame Malcom. But because of the changes his government enacted just to oppose the ALP at the time, resulted in a more similar system to the US. Especially with some new developments with their own private infrastructure. Personally, I'd love to see an acceptance of the mess it is. Keep the nbn public owned and go back to the 90% plan. It was the NBN that made me lose all faith in Australian politics as it showed that our government would rather be petty than foster growth. #auspol
