@azonenberg@ioc.exchange @artelse@mastodon.social They use a semi specialized process to make the "digital isolators". My guess is that this tech isn't compatible with whatever tech they need for the RS485 driver- it does need to withstand higher voltages/common mode than typical io ports, but isn't really exotic. https://www.ti.com/video/6138482845001
