@ginabythebay@hachyderm.io It's a lost art - my Dad had a machine shop and we didn't even have a digital readout on any machines :-)
When I worked at the LEGO Group in Denmark I got to tour the machine shop - I looked for the milling machines and didn't see any ... they were there of course.
Beautiful 6 axis boxes that were able to do things that were impossible without tedious tool and work holding changes 40 years ago.
It's an amazing time to be alive, except for all the dumb stuff going on.

@rhempel@cosocial.ca I took manual machining at our local community college (they still require it for people who take machining classes). I just find that the skills involved in doing it well don't really align with the skills I have.
