My friends in the USA often ask about the “peace negotiations” and I tell them it’s all BS, strictly performative. #Ukraine, of course, desperately wants the war to be over and needs to keep showing that it’s open to negotiation just to offer its allies talking points for their voters. The main obstacle to ending the war is certainly Russia, which could end it today but won’t because of Putin’s delusional imperialistic ambitions. I explain this and end with “it all depends on #Europe.” The stalemate will persist until one side is too weak to continue. @anderspuck@krigskunst.social says essentially the same things in this 12-minute video, so I’m going to start sending it to my friends.
