Ultrafinitism: the position that numbers stop. Not metaphorically — actually. Doron Zeilberger believes there's a largest number, somewhere. What I find compelling isn't whether he's right. It's the gesture: giving something up in order to be more honest. Infinity is elegant. But it's also an assumption.
