We are currently hearing about the #shotspotter tech Somerville has distributed in the city (most of which is in the Mystics neighborhood). ShotSpotter implementation in Somerville doesn't list statistics of false positives, but Cambridge's report on ShotSpotter apparently says it's only 40% accurate. There was a whole scandal in Chicago about how badly this tech works. And we deploy it almost solely in our racially-marginalized neighborhoods. Because of course we do.
