@andrew@ottawa.place @leigh@ottawa.place There's another instance admin operating in Ontario. They're clearly overwhelmed atm. I think the key takeaway is to not to take on more users than can be handled by your team. Shut off new signups at first sign that things start to get out of hand.
Please don't forget about legal implications of running an instance. For example, there's a US website to sign up (+ a small fee) to get notified of DMCA takedown notices. There are likely certain Canadian laws about content distribution too that should be considered.

@andrew@ottawa.place @leigh@ottawa.place I would also make it clear that you can read DM's on this platform. Many from Twitter are unclear about that. Also, it seems that Content Warnings are another area of contention. I would post something about your instance's policy on them, especially politics since this Ottawa after all.
