@kfury@mstdn.social @misc@mastodon.social Never actually saw The Good Place, but it sure does sound like the ethical dilemma of pressing a button that kills a random person and you get a million dollars. I’d be slapping that bad boy like it was George Santos and Martin Shkreli’s faces. Until my hands fell off.

@Skawt@hachyderm.io @kfury@mstdn.social @misc@mastodon.social I implore you to watch The Good Place, it’s well worth your time. I’ve never seen anyone make a comedy about philosophy and ethics before, and this one works. So much so that I’ve watched it more than once, and I never do that.

@Skawt@hachyderm.io @kfury@mstdn.social @misc@mastodon.social In the original story "Button, Button" by Richard Matheson, it's "someone you don't know". In the Twilight Zone adaptation of the story, after being pushed, the button is redistributed to someone who doesn't know the previous person.

@Skawt@hachyderm.io @kfury@mstdn.social @misc@mastodon.social Just out of curiosity and not in any seriousness, would your answer change if after you slap the button everyone knows you did it and why.
