For live traffic information, there's quite a number of resources for individual countries or cities (https://github.com/graphhopper/open-traffic-collection).
Combined with some funding-based opt-in open source life data collection and aggregation, it could be quite useful.
But that would be a big initiative and its own non-profit organization...

@fxnn@hachyderm.io We are not afraid of challenging tasks. That's how Organic Maps and MapsWithMe were born. Any volunteers to lead that important initiative (with our help, of course)?
