@alexleduc@mstdn.ca I'd say what matters more than overall users is *which* overall users. The 3% on steam is more important than the 4% on the Stat Counter Desktop OS monthly market share report, precisely because of the type of people who are Steam. Steam users are the sorts of people who stream, and are more prone to evangelize. The growth in steam is the same market that produces youtube videos. Someone using linux for server maintained is less likely to stream about steam on youtube.

@alexleduc@mstdn.ca It's kind of like how everyone knows Linux is what the internet and business world runs on, but it doesn't get reflected in the desktop market that most people recognize from youtube. You have to hit a specific market to get videos pumped out, and linux is currently surging with that very specific crowd. Just to note, I'm de-googled. I use freetube, so I don't get analytics. I see *tons* of videos on linux these days in the circle I run in, analytics-free.
