The difference is made up with stolen wealth (hence why socialism only begins in nations that were prosperous under some other system), and always lasts until the pool of wealth is depleted, at which point, the system inevitably collapses on itself. How long this takes is a function of GDP, starting wealth, and the excess and corruption by the ruling class. The most insidious part is that this often takes a generation or two - long enough for the population to forget how to be self-sufficient.

@ryan@bemrose.social You're focused on wealth and GDP, but notice the less homogeneous the group, the more rapid the decay. Norway is still socialist and they lasted longer than Venezuela.

They view all life as useless and expendable while they're transitioning humans to a utopia and erasing the stain of private property. They'll fill up 50 square blocks with fent zombies and starve millions people for utopia. It's Jonestown for liberal arts majors and cat women and resentful losers. "This is a revolutionary suicide. They'll pay for this".
