@patagona@chaos.social the compatibility comes both sides โ from the view of the operating system, a USB floppy is the same as any other USB flash drive, and they're using the same protocol ๐

@daniel_bohrer@chaos.social @patagona@chaos.social While USB floppy drives are still classified as "mass storage class" devices, they actually need a different set of commands to work, as specified in the USB Floppy Interface (UFI) spec: https://www.usb.org/sites/default/files/usbmass-ufi10.pdf Floppies also usually were formatted as FAT12, which is pretty unusual these days and wouldn't be expected on normal devices.
