I dislike the way the PM and Finance Minister say "We will not tax and spend". That's their job. That's the what governments are supposed to do.
It's economically inefficient to tax and spend as little as they do. All this under investment means we will have to pay much more later. Particularly in social cost, but also to recover the abandoned institutions and lost opportunities, and some things can't ever be fixed.

@AlexsandraSmart@mastodon.nz exactly. The costs are real. They just are not in financial terms for the government books. It’s in the low productivity of our industries, the falling levels of public services, people getting sicker and sicker because they can’t get doctors visits or even hospital beds, the list goes on. We are run by people who know the price of everything and the value of nothing. Either that or they are deliberately starving public services to make them easier to privatise
