@emma@assemblag.es I really want to believe the Fediverse is a place to promote independent business and artistic endeavours, but everything I see/read here tells me it’s ABSOLUTELY NOT. Perhaps I’m wrong - but the why is complex and a topic for another discussion. But assuming this is true, you’re left with . . . mainstream social media channels. Which as most of us know aren’t social in any sane way. They are stacked decks against the little person at the very best of times. A loved one uses IG and TikTok regularly to promote her writing career, she views it as the only way to get the message out to those who might want to engage with her work. She’s found very modest results that way, and in that sense it’s been positive. But it’s all balanced against the toll that ugly/stupid place takes on your mental health/psyche every goddamn day. Which is real.
