@FoxbrushTailwag@mastodon.social the photo looks really dodgy but I've noticed that there are a few reports surfacing now about this phenomenon e.g. https://www.cam.ac.uk/stories/solar-biodiversity-birds It is not surprising though - this is what happened in the military ranges across Eastern Europe during and after the Cold War.   • @tribactam@social.vivaldi.net yeah, you get the same thing here in Switzerland on former army shooting ranges, artillery practice grounds etc., plenty of butterflies and other wildlife that has unfortunately gotten rare in other places. It's a good reminder that one of the biggest impacts is simply human presence.
