I mean, I don't know if I should be budgeting £2k, £8k or £15k to turn this place around. That kind of error margin is intolerable, so I simply won't buy any more toys until a decent honest company comes forward, or the market gets regulated properly.

@xylophilist@mastodon.online Imagine going into your local hardware store...I want to see a heat pump...certainly, sir, can I see your drivers license first? I'd be outta there.

@xylophilist@mastodon.online I'm a little confused. I expect trades in general, not just those related to heat pumps and batteries, to work on a quote-basis. Some might list fixed prices for ultra-common or ultra-consistent services, but the labor and materials needed for them to do their job is usually going to vary a lot between customers. I'd presume the contact details is so they can talk to you to get enough info to know a price. Are you looking at websites for companies that would do the install for you? Or Are you trying to find someone who will sell you just the materials, and let you handle installation? Because I don't see how the former would work without quotes, and the latter is probably tough to find since the equipment manufacturers usually only want to sell to contractors.
