@antoinechambertloir@mathstodon.xyz @jonmsterling@mathstodon.xyz @ofc1996@mathstodon.xyz Shannon basically invented information theory (where the use of the term entropy was proposed by John von Neumann). It's indeed another side of the probabilistic method, for a different purpose. (I don't know when it was realised).
