Reproductive Justice as a term emerges bc a white-dominated feminist movement focused on issues of abortion and birth control when it came to reproduction, while women of color were largely concerned with forced sterilization, maternal and infant mortality, and social determinants of health.
Black and brown women theorized a framework of reproductive justice to address these particular concerns, using human rights language.

Reproductive justice, like health justice and other related frameworks, recognizes as a matter of course the deeply interconnected nature of various structures of violence and oppression and as such has a far-reaching scope. It's why you'll catch me often talking about things that, at first glance, may seem unrelated to me or my field. Water crises: RJ issues. Genocides in Sudan, Congo, and Palestine: RJ issues. Colonialism: an RJ issue. Voting rights: RJ issues. Immigration is an RJ issue!
