- the prize jury said that they were not going to give a prize to any country that is carrying out crimes against humanity, and they got some flak for that - so the whole prize jury decided to step down - and now the Biennale is replacing those prizes with some sort of people's awards, voted by the attendants (basically they're unwittingly pulling a Eurovision) - the Biennale starts this Saturday, probably with the Russian pavilion closed for some time
