@postantiquarian@archaeo.social do you think the reason it skips over a lot of good farmland in SE England is 1) lack of decent stones to circle or 2) farmers over the years destroying evidence?

@ASprinkleofSage@mastodon.social a bit of both but I would imagine that their destruction over the millennia to make room for farming would be a large part. The lack of good stone on the chalk downs would also be a factor. It could be interesting to add in timber circles to the data and see what happens in the south east.
