@serrebi@tweesecake.social @karlhigley@recsys.social I don't think they really compare, blindness is pretty unequivocally a disability, whereas autism is a loosely connected set of traits that can be both positive and negative depending on context and how they take form in an individual.
When people say "cure autism", I hear "cure the potential to become a great engineer", because that is a lot of the same traits.
It is debilitating for some, but to most the problem is society, we don't want a cure for simply being different

@NohatCoder@mastodon.gamedev.place @karlhigley@recsys.social I think people should make that decision for themselves anyway. The thing about getting sight back is there’s all sorts of expectations, I assume. So I can understand people who don’t want a cure..
