My mind keeps coming back to this. When will an AI model make me superfluous? What's the point of all the things I've spent my life on if an AI model can do them all? How will I make ends meet if I have no skills anyone needs anymore? My past experiences with being "useless" - when I was young and crashed out of the system due to poor mental health and an undiagnosed disability - were grim. How will I manage that again? But day-to-day: I live in a nice apartment, I enjoy the mostly solitary private life I've settled into, I read good books and play good computer games and have even started some light exercise again.

@datarama@hachyderm.io an "AI" model is most likely to "make you superfluous" not by doing tasks that you can do, but by crashing the worldwide economy so badly that no one can afford the luxury of paying a professional to develop custom software for them any more
